Mary Baker, Storyteller,
will entertain everyone
at 1:30 and 2:30 in the Museum Barn at the Spring Festival.

Storyteller Mary Baker has lived in Northeastern Pennsylvania since 1989. When she first moved here she saw a tiny article in the local newspaper announcing a storytelling day at a local university. She started her journey into the world of storytelling there, with a workshop on the basics of storytelling, and has continued through many conferences and festivals over the years. She also spent a year at East Tennessee State University and˙earn a MA in Storytelling in 2004.

She performs in schools, churches, camps, coffeehouses, motor home rallies and conferences. She teaches and coaches adults and children in the art of storytelling in schools, conferences, and workshops. She had a guitar put into her hands by her sixth-grade music teacher. He said, "You need to play guitar with that beautiful voice." And she has ever since.

Contemporary folksongs. Christian songs. Soothing ballads and sing-a-long songs. She writes songs that enhance stories and others that stand alone. She has been singing as long as she can remember and has been told over and over again that it is a 'beautiful voice.'

She was born and raised in Northern New Jersey on a small farm. She studied at Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey where she˙received a BS in early childhood and elementary education. She has been a teacher of preschoolers, third graders, art, physical education, and 9- to 12-year-old Montessori students since 1974.
